If your research is RCUK funded you can apply for ISS to pay article processing charges to make your article open access. It would then be available to anyone which is a benefit to the wider research community and there is evidence that open access increases the chance of your work being used and cited. RCUK expects universities to be working towards open access for all work funded by them.
You would need to publish in a journal which uses a CC-BY licence (a creative commons licence which allows your work to be used commercially as well as for academic purposes). This is an RCUK requirement which many publishers will now comply with. When your article is accepted for publication, simply fill in our online form. Don’t worry if you don’t have information for all the fields – only the asterisked ones are essential. If you have any queries you can contact firstname.lastname@example.org
